Job Summary:

This position contributes to the design and delivery of research projects at the Great Cities Institute around racial equity and participatory democracy issues. This position will also collaborate with other researchers to develop, execute and interpret research and participatory community engagement projects and to conduct research for grant proposals.

Duties:

- Collaborate with PI, Co-PI's, and researchers to develop objectives and design of research and participatory community engagement projects around racial equity drive organizational change and participatory democracy. Serves as a resource person and referral agent.
- Engage with key stakeholders such as internal staff, nonprofits and community members to organize public deliberation spaces, either online or in-person, and ensure that pre-post surveys are administered and feedback is compiled.
- Conduct racial equity impact analysis or participatory budgeting group workshops or trainings when needed.
- Schedule, assign, review and/or provide recommendations regarding work within the project.
- Compile and analyze data and information, evaluates, and summarizes findings.
- Replicate, refine and create new research approaches based on project needs.
- Monitor project developments on an ongoing basis. Propose and implement changes as needed.
- Oversee the preparation of project report outlines, assist with report writing, and edit project reports for publication.
- Participate in the guidance, training and supervision of undergraduate and graduate research assistants on assigned research, training, communications and other projects.
- Represent and coordinate working relationships of the project team on various committees, teams or peers related to the specialized area; acts as a liaison to campus, agency and community groups, and other skilled specialists throughout the state and nationwide.
- Work with PIs and Co-PIs to conduct fundraising for projects.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree in social science or related field required. Master's degree in social science preferred.
- A minimum of 3 years related research experience.
- Possesses and applies comprehensive knowledge of research principles, concepts, practices and methods.
